“My 6 year old and I had a blast reading this together. The characters are fun and memorable, they evoke Elephant and Piggy but at a slightly higher reading level. I would say a typical 2nd grader could easily read through this. It’s a great read-aloud, lends itself to fun voices, and most of all just has a really sweet, positive story where two people recognize and appreciate one another’s differences while also helping each identify and reach their goals. I hope there are more books, the framework is there for a great series.”
"Ishkabibble and Kalamazoo Sunshine Umbrella" is a delightful children's book that sparkles with imagination and whimsy. From its vibrant illustrations to its engaging storyline, this book captures the essence of childhood wonder. With its message of compromise, friendship, and the power of imagination, Ish and Kal are sure to become a beloved characters for young readers and their families alike.
A relatable story of siblings finding a creative compromise so they can both have fun. I love that these characters negotiate with each other and consider potential problems and solutions, all on their own and with patience and understanding! Models great skills for all kids to be aware of. I’m a speech therapist and will definitely be putting this into my regular book rotation!
